Futura Ligatures
In typography, a ligature is when two letters are joined into one character, typically because this allows for more visually-pleasing spacing. The lowercase f is a frequent target for ligatures, due its "overhang" that causes spacing issues when followed by letters like i, t, l, or another f.
This postcard is simply an illustration of these f-ligatures in Futura, one of my favourite typefaces. I purchased a font of 30 point Futura Bold from Letterpress Things in 2015, and it's become a reliable friend.
The postcard is available in two variants: round-cornered white (from Peter Pauper Press, 400 gsm), and square-cornered cream (Winsor & Newton, 300 gsm).
Both are 4 inches by 6 inches (10.16 × 15.24 cm).
Printed on a 1915 Golding Jobber № 8 letterpress.
Mailed by Canada Post standard lettermail, inside an envelope for protection.
