First a call to the Cross Keys for a bracer
In 2014, the 150th anniversary of the Confederation Conference, I worked with artist Brenda Whiteway on a project call the "Confederation Country Cabinet," setting and printing 6 passages by Canadian authors.
And the end of the process, the most significant print project I'd ever taken on, I pulled a line from the Frank Ledwell poem, Charlottetown Conference and printed it an head-you-over-the-head 60 point Akzidenz Grotesk on some leftover luscious paper from Papeterie St-Armand in Montreal. The broadside wasn't a part of the job for Brenda, it was a recreational piece, so to speak, after months of fiddly typesetting.
The piece ended up being among my favourite things I've ever produced; I found four of them while cleaning the shop this morning, and I offer them here for others.
7 by 10 inches, printed in black on white cotton rag.
